For 2.4.18 I have a very good experience. It's running on our mailserver (as well an alpha-machine [ds10]) with ext3. Without patches it worked well. Now I have a few patches (most of them are from l-k list)...

Just a comment: 2.5.26/27 doesn't create a modversions.h on my machine... So make dep/clean and so on doesn't work for me...
