I've seen no good documentation on this one. The ldisc is basically the
glue between the serial layer and whatever is above

So its

/dev/ttyFOO --- [LDISC] --- Serial

or

/dev/ttyFOO -----}
ppp0 ---------}--[LDISC] -- Serial
