Ok, I figured it out.. maybe!
Got it to boot, by using a rh6.1 system to compile the kernel.
The machine that refused to boot is running rh5.1, with gcc v2.7.2/binutils 2.9.1.0.4 (yea, I just noticed the Changes says 2.9.1.0.7)
I was getting this:
[root@pdsfdv13 linux]# make bzImage gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386 -c -o init/main.o init/main.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386 -DUTS_MACHINE='"i386"' -c -o init/version.o init/version.c make -C kernel make[1]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux/kernel' make all_targets make[2]: Entering directory `/usr/src/linux/kernel' gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386 -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c signal.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386 -DEXPORT_SYMTAB -c ksyms.c gcc -D__KERNEL__ -I/usr/src/linux/include -Wall -Wstrict-prototypes -O2 -fomit-frame-pointer -pipe -fno-strength-reduce -m386 -DCPU=386 -fno-omit-frame-pointer -c -o sched.o sched.c sched.c:77: warning: alignment of `aligned_data' is greater than maximum object file alignment
The warning means I got a corrupted kernel. What generated the warnings? asm? gcc?
Thanks!
