I don't have any ATAPI Zip drives, but I do have a SCSI Zip 100 connected to this machine right now (533MHz Celeron, Adaptec AHA-2940UW). I'm pretty busy right now, but I'll see if I can help...

I'm getting different figures on my SCSI drive:
# dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=512 196608+0 records in 196608+0 records out # dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/null bs=1 100663296+0 records in 100663296+0 records out
FWIW, this is what dmesg says about my drive when I insert and access a disk (factory-preformatted for Windows):
SCSI device sda: hdwr sector= 512 bytes. Sectors= 196608 [96 MB] [0.1 GB] sda: Write Protect is off sda: sda4

No. It has a DOS partition table. Or, in the case of a Macintosh, there's a Mac partition table on the disk. (I don't have any Zip disks with Mac data anymore, though.)
Here's some output from fdisk. I can't read raw partition table data, but I've included it in case it helps anyone...
