I have also seen these errors when doing any sort of heavy IO with my fireball...
hda: QUANTUM FIREBALL SE2.1A, 2014MB w/80kB Cache, CHS=1023/64/63, UDMA(33)
Seeing as the other reply also had a quantum fireball I'd start to suspect that perhaps they should be on a blacklist of sorts?
