Here is the output from my system.
hdparm /dev/hdb /dev/hdb: multcount = 0 (off) I/O support = 0 (default 16-bit) unmaskirq = 0 (off) using_dma = 0 (off) keepsettings = 0 (off) nowerr = 0 (off) readonly = 0 (off) readahead = 8 (on) geometry = 523/128/63, sectors = 4224150, start = 0
and for /dev/hda
/dev/hda: multcount = 0 (off) I/O support = 0 (default 16-bit) unmaskirq = 0 (off) using_dma = 0 (off) keepsettings = 0 (off) nowerr = 0 (off) readonly = 0 (off) readahead = 8 (on) geometry = 732/255/63, sectors = 11773755, start = 0
Now I could set some of these manualy and I intend to try this shortly but shouldn't the kernel do it by default? I compiled the kernel (2.2.10) to use DMA by default when possible.
Thanks...
