I have tried several things to try and make my computer shut down properly
when halting the system. I'm trying to apply a patch, but it doesn't seem
to be working. This is the error I get:

tching file `linux/arch/i386/kernel/apm.c'
Hunk #1 FAILED at 554.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to linux/arch/i386/kernel/apm.c.rej
patching file `linux/arch/i386/kernel/process.c'
Hunk #1 FAILED at 2.
Hunk #2 FAILED at 387.
2 out of 2 hunks FAILED -- saving rejects to linux/arch/i386/kernel/process.c.rej
patching file `linux/include/linux/reboot.h'
Hunk #1 FAILED at 47.
1 out of 1 hunk FAILED -- saving rejects to linux/include/linux/reboot.h.rej

Can someone tell me how I can apply this patch successfully?
