dmesg shows:

My oldish NEC CD-ROM DRIVE:273 on hdd seems to get confused. It definitely is not a ATAPI 35X DVD-ROM drive, 37507kB Cache! I cannot mount a CD on it, I get (with a RedHat CD in the drive):
[root@linnie wriede]# mount -t iso9660 /dev/hdd /mnt/cdrom mount: block device /dev/hdd is write-protected, mounting read-only mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/hdd, or too many mounted file systems
I can mount and read that CD fine on my other drive, which, fyi, is using ide-scsi since it's a CD/PD drive.
Any ideas what could be going on?
