there are patches for 2.2.6 and 2.0.37pre, which make udma on ALI 15x3 available. I have no experience with the patch for 2.2.6, but the one for 2.0.37pre9 just works fine with 2.0.37pre9, 2.0.37pre10 and 2.0.37pre11 (I use it on several machines, all of them with havy disk load).
