Cables should be fine. This machine is in a rack and the router is about 1
foot away from it. Rebooting the system brought it back up without
trouble. The only thing odd was that the machine appeared to be receiving
the pings but was not returning them. Tried from two different machines
here at work, one Linux, one Solaris.
