I think that replacing the if (toomany) wakeup_bdflush(0) with wakeup_bdflush(1) would have fixed it everywhere. But we instead added heuristics and crap to the buffer.c code. I would really like to know if somebody every changed bdf_prm.pct_dirt via sysctl, we never suggest people to change it when we have a bugreport like this...
