FWIW, i've been running 2.2.3-ac2 compiled -march=pentium with egcs-1.1.1 no strangeness noted here either. tried -march=pentiumpro but that was a no-booter -- stopped at 'uncompressing kernel' -- but then, i am on a k6-2 300 . . .
