Yes, this is indeed the case. glibc hacking is hard (for me at least) and I haven't done all the work required for backwards compatibility there too. I will certainly help do the rest of the work needed.

Okay, I'll switch to using the last 2 unused fields instead. Now I see the reasoning behind the pad space :)
