I tried several binutils (I did´nt find all mentioned)
but with each I got similar results as the following:

as -o bbootsect.o bbootsect.s
bbootsect.s: Assembler messages:
bbootsect.s:897: Error: `%al' not allowed with `outw'

the above with binutils-991012
