Client is RH5.2 with a PCMCIA 3Com 3c589 with dhcpcd-1.3.16 and server is RH5.2 with stock DHCP server, ie:
[asuardi@dogbert asuardi]$ rpm -q dhcp dhcp-2.0b1pl6-2
kernels are 2.1.132 on the client and 2.2.0pre5 on the server.
Fun things:
1: my DHCP client doesn't work under 2.0.36 -- perhaps because I compiled it with the 2.1.12x kernel headers (tries to modprobe pf-17 [yes, "pf-17"] then fails connecting to the socket... I'd rebuild the kernel including CONFIG_PACKET, if I were under 2.1.xxx+ :) 2: I had random non-connections but today I discovered that the coax cable on the server end is probably a bit unstable (moving it caused a failing 'ping' to become alive...) so I guess software always worked.
Cheers,
