the kernel config has a field which puts versions on modules i've always used this and then make modules;make modules_install
Maybe these could be placed under the make Zimage thingy if you have triggered modules, and with versions could it be added ?? and could the OLD modules be removed too ??
and how come you cant hit a button in make xconfig that could start the make process ??
