Thanks to all that responded. All fingers pointed towards a hardware error, and shure enough there was one. But nasty. The second drive on my ide bus was also a udma, a western digital that NT lives on. There was some conflict between the two drives. When I put my ide iomega as the second drive, my bus speed went from 0.08MB/sec to 11.23MB/sec. I can even run it with a bus speed of 85mHz:-)
thanks again don -- ------------------------------------------------------------------- | Don Fisher dfisher@as.arizona.edu | | MMT Observatory VOICE: (520)621-7647 | | University of Arizona FAX: (520)670-5740 | | Tucson, AZ 85721 | -------------------------------------------------------------------
