Under S.u.S.E. 5.3, kernel 2.0.35
mkfs.ext2 /dev/hdb ^ my machine's LS-120 is slave on the primary ide channel
works just fine, formats to 120 MB or 1.44 depending on media.
(Machine is an Asus P5A motherboard, AMD K6/2-333 with Award BIOS 4.51PG)
