Neither would I. But the thread was about a suggestion that there should be separate compile time config options for 386, 486, Pentium, Pentium Pro, 5x86, 6x86, 6x86MX, K5, K6 ad infinitum. Obviously you can't compile for a different architecture if you don't know what it is at compile time but compatibility with Intel variants is another question.
