Hummm... one of my students tried a couple of times to install linux on her PC, and came up with a scheme with /dev/hda12 too... but this partition only gave grief: It dissapeared, or the partition table got screwed up, or whatever. This was RedHat 4.1. I don't remember further details, and the setup is long gone. The /dev/hda12 was inside /dev/hda4 in this case, /dev/hda[1-3] where regular partitions, /dev/hda{5,...,12} inside /dev/hda4.
Might not be at all relevant, but... -- Dr. Horst H. von Brand mailto:vonbrand@inf.utfsm.cl Departamento de Informatica Fono: +56 32 654431 Universidad Tecnica Federico Santa Maria +56 32 654239 Casilla 110-V, Valparaiso, Chile Fax: +56 32 797513
