I warmly suggest you get a fresh 2.1.43 and apply pre-patch-2.1.44-3 (in
the /pub/linux/kernel/testing directory on ftp.kernel.org). I
even installed this setup on an almost-production machine which has
currently a 2-week uptime w/o problems. But I do not do masquerading...

I experimented with the two drivers on an 8-port PC/Xe. I could speak with
the ports, but the carriage detect signal was not correctly relayed to the
apps (this was on 2.0.29 or 30 a couple of months ago). Then I reverted to
using the two standard serial ports, but in a few weeks' time I will need
a third port, and by then I will have to give the digiboard another
try...
