    Reconfigure your kernel, throwing away everything you do not need, and
    recompile the kernel. This suggestion is obvious. What is less
    obvious is that you can have your swap in two different modes:
    immediate and over-commitment. I'd recommend the latter. Do 'man
    swapon', you'll learn everything you need to know. It is likely,
    that you have to scsi controllers in your machine (Bus 0 and Bus1).
    We never did it, but performance should improve if your swap drive
    sits on a separate bus.
