You're _really_ helping me in finding the PPP slowdown cause.

Others report ppp being unbearably slow, and now somebody reports it
being fast. My head hurz.

Just a bit more...I also get fast PPP. On a 28.8 connection, I
routinely get 2.0~3.2 KB/sec grabbing .gz files (i. e. I'm squeezing
out every last bit of performance).

I can, however, try talking to a Solaris 2.3 ftp server to see if it's
worse there.
