Well, the 1.3.95 kernel now is able to compile itself on my system. When I wrote the original message, it would not. I went and read Roger Wolff web page (http://www.bitwizard.nl/sig11/) and tried the suggestted course of action to determine if the sig11 problem is hardware or software. He suggestted recompiling the kernel to see if the compile stops at the same place the sig11 occurs. He also suggest doing a dd of 32 MB (in my case) of your harddisk data to /dev/null. Well I have done the dd but the 1.3.95 kernel compiles do not fail anymore, and have not failed since I last rebooted. I have done the kernel compile five times so far with no problems. My system will continue to compile the kernel over and over until morning, but I do not think it will fail. Go figure!
