I get these UDP short packet errors too, however only when I'm running a Quake server. This was already discussed on the list; they're not really errors, its more of a feature -- in my case its just reporting the fact that it has received a short packet from a Quake client. I'm not sure if the packet goes through or not, or if its rejected by the kernel and thrown away.
