loopback has been doing this for a LONG time... that is... as long as I
can remember :-D

I think I remember Alan Cox saying *something* about this problem before,
but I don't remember what (other than something about the TCP stack
needing to be rebuilt)...

Alan? (or anyone else that may know the answer :)
