Unlike the rest of the civilized world (example: PERL with POD), the GNU
don't provide a tool to translate their documentation format into man
pages. Consequently, you won't find man pages on GNU tar, the assembler
syntax, etc.

Take a look at the GCC info pages instead - they're a lot more thorough.
