me too, with 2940 (also tried W and UW cards), with archive and Exabyte dat's same system with min. freebsd current works, also works with NT/win95 and Os/2 all on the same system, same configure. in mine, I run tar -cvf /dev/st0 /any-hd-drive/partation, works great, right up till the end, and then it gets a scsi time out, either crashes the machine totally, or lets my sync and reboot, but it's always in the same place, right after the last file in the backup, I tried backuping up two files in a dir, same thing. the tape drive makes this little noise, as it's finishing, then rewinds. I've had all the term. cables replaces, tested etc.... all of them have passed everytime. even removed the cdrom and only put on HD / DAT same thing. Also the freebsd and linux driver are basically the same, alteast the code is shared between Justin/Dan and I've heard people with other SCSI cards with same problem as me.
