I've had in some sense oppopsite problems:

When Linux exports to Solaris-2.5 - all's fine with a 8k blocks
When Linux mounts volumes from Solaris-2.5 - after a heavy NFS usage, umount
hangs. 4k blocks solved the problem. The Linux server was 2.0.14 & 2.0.17
