I get the same thing; however pinging localhost get's results.
Traceroute localhost gives: shivan:~> traceroute localhost traceroute to localhost.demon.co.uk (127.0.0.1), 30 hops max, 40 byte packets sendto: Bad address 1 traceroute: wrote localhost.demon.co.uk 40 chars, ret=-1
The dummy driver has the same problem with traceroute as well; I haven't checked out PPP yet.
