i just happened again :-( at exactly the same EIP.
and again it was "sendmail" which was running when this happened; can't
be a random event, can it ?

actually "sendmail" is a pretty old version of "smail":
# smail -V
/\==/\ Smail3.1.28.1 #28.20
ll /usr/bin/smail
-r-sr-xr-x 1 root bin 222212 Oct 21 1993 /usr/bin/smail

and it tried to write an outgoing mail to my UUCP spool area both times...

I've compiled this kernel image on November 25 and it run flawlessly
24 hours a day since then and it sent ~300 mails with no problem at all.
and now two kernel problems within one hour ???

this is ne 2nd crash; I'll compile 2.0.27 now...
