No those files are use so netatalk can keep track of the resource portion of Mac files... It basically tells the mac what type of file it is, what icon to display, what to open it with.. yadda yadda yadda... Netatalk can also create these on the fly by guessing from the extension, but if you copy something from a real mac to a netatalk mounted folder, it will make that directory you are seeing (and keep it hidden from the mac) to store all the resource info in. If you get rid of the directory, the precious mac files saved on your linux box will turn into zombie files with owl icons next time you try to access them on a mac.. oh well :)
